Today is the Day of Salvation
“For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2
Yesterday was a day I will never forget. After days of praying fervently for God to heal my friend, James Teesateskie, I got to talk to him and share Christ with him.
As I walked up to the hospital and rode up the elevator to his floor, I could feel the Holy Spirit rising up within me. I could also feel the prayers of believers and loved ones in Asheville, Robbinsville and all across the country praying fervently for James to be open to receive the gospel.
When I began to love on James and share Jesus with him, it was so obvious that I was in the middle of a divine appointment. Sometimes in our lives we come to an intersection of time and space and you know that God has orchestrated the whole event. You are keenly aware that this is a set up of God’s own making. You are just playing a small part in what He is doing. That is how I felt yesterday.
I felt privileged and humbled at the same time. My friend, Hattie Kirkland, called me and asked me to come pray for James when he was on life support. She kept me informed of his progress and encouraged me when she thought it was the right time to visit him and share Christ with him.
Many of you were faithfully praying for God to do a saving miracle in his life. I am sure the angels in heaven were doing their part to set everything up for James salvation to take place.
When I got to his room and there was an attendant who was required to remain with him at all times, I got a little concerned. But then I remembered that I was on assignment and launched into sharing the gospel in all its fullness and beauty. The attendant got to hear it all too.
When you are in a divine appointment, it doesn’t matter who hears or who is around. God is at work, and He has a plan. When God has set up someone’s day of salvation, all we do is cooperate.
I believe there are thousands throughout western NC who are on God’s heart today. He wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. He would leave the 99 to go after the one lost sheep. Can we be a part of his search party, looking for His lost sheep? Would you be open to God using you today on one of His divine assignments?
I want to thank all of you who prayed for James and for me this past week. It has been a week of miracles. I know that your prayers made a huge difference. I know it. I felt it. I am sure James felt it too.
Please continue to pray for James and for me as I seek to help this new babe in Christ to be nurtured and discipled in the Word. He has a history of addiction and needs God’s help and the help of others to get lasting freedom. But now He has the power of the risen Christ living inside of him!
And pray for our Snowbird Cherokee Kids Camp this coming week. We believe that God wants to bring salvation to many hearts in the Cherokee nation. God has good plans of salvation for many more Cherokee people. Please keep praying for breakthrough.
We never know when someone’s “TODAY” will be. Let’s keep our eyes and hearts open for God’s divine plan and will. There are many, many more “James” out there. Let’s ask the Father to use us to reach them with the AGAPE and the good news of Jesus.
